The Riesling is an iconic white grape variety originating from the Rhine Valley in Germany. Renowned for its great aromatic finesse, it produces elegant wines, often endowed with beautiful acidity and remarkable ageing potential. The Riesling appellation is also very prominent in Alsace, where it benefits from particularly favourable terroir and climate.
Wines made from Riesling can be dry, semi-dry or sweet, depending on the winemaking methods and grape ripeness. They typically reveal aromas of lemon, green apple, white flowers, and even petrol with age – a characteristic feature of this grape variety. The Dirler-Cadé estate in Bergholtz, Alsace, cultivates Riesling biodynamically on great terroirs, producing wines of great purity, true to the Alsatian style.
