Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
A mammoth Petrus of stupendous extraction and power, this wine seems to be aging at a glacier pace. I suppose the 1975 is somewhat similar in style, with high levels of tannin and equally impressive levels of richness. This wine has a dark, murky garnet color with some orange and rust at the edge. The spectacular aromatics soar from the glass, offering up roasted herbs, espresso coffee, mocha, caramel, and plenty of jammy red and black fruits. A huge, viscous, spectacularly concentrated wine that is almost over the top in a style that even wine administrator Christian Moueix would probably find too big and intense for his more delicately styled taste. Nevertheless, lucky owners of this Petrus have decades of thrills still ahead of them. This is spectacular stuff!

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
A wonderful example of old-school Petrus, that even though it is starting to fade, still offers a sultry, sensuous, truffle laden experience that coats and glides over your palate with layers of dark, sweet, opulently textured plums, cherries, spice, liquorice, smoke, tobacco and spice.

Falstaff
Medium crimson garnet, broad ochre tones, yellow rim, delicately smoky on the nose, blackberry note, crisp and dense, very youthful, fresh, dark berries, delicate and long, fine orange touch in the finish. Magnificent vintage representative.

A wonderful balance of copious tobacco and olive flavours and silky tannins. This is truly a mouthful, and, without a doubt, the best '64 produced in Bordeaux.

Petrus

Petrus is one of the most iconic and most sought-after wines of the Pomerol appellation, occupying a unique place in the Bordeaux wine landscape. Unlike the grands crus classés of the Médoc, Pomerol has no official classification, yet Pétrus has established itself over time as the absolute reference of the appellation, recognised for the singularity of its terroir and the exceptional consistency of its wines.

The Petrus vineyard rests on a unique plateau of ferruginous clay soils, dominated by a high proportion of blue clay, rare in Bordeaux. This terroir gives the wines a dense structure, remarkable depth and an immediately recognisable identity. The grape variety used is almost exclusively Merlot, a variety that finds here an expression of rare intensity.

The international renown of Petrus was built during the 20th century, notably under the influence of key figures who shaped its style and reputation. The wines of Pétrus are distinguished by their richness, their silky texture and their exceptional ageing potential. Among the iconic vintages: 1961 wine, 1982 vintage, the mythical 1989, Petrus 1990, 2000, Petrus 2016, 2017 wine, regularly cited among the greatest wines of Bordeaux.
