Wine Enthusiast January - 2014
Wine Enthusiast
This extravagantly perfumed wine has great juicy, ripe fruits. The tannic structure is almost secondary in the welter of ripe fruits, but it is enough to promise ageing. Acidity and rich fruitiness partner each other to give a wine that is both fresh and powerful. Drink from 2020.

Falstaff February - 2016
Falstaff
Dark ruby red, violet reflections and subtle rim lightening. On the nose, background nuances of black truffle, black berry compote, fresh Amarena cherries, sweet and savoury notes and subtle orange peel. Juicy texture, red berry nuances, silky tannins with fresh structure. A fruity finish with nuances of red berries. A very elegant wine, characterised by a saline minerality.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Floral, boysenberry, peppermint, truffle, cocoa, coffee, spice and kirsch. Soft, pure red cherry with refined tannins and a plush, silky, long finish. Lacking the depth and concentration found in 2009 or 2010, there is ample acidity, structure, freshness, balance, length and a strong sense of purity.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
A dense ruby/purple-tinged colour and restrained but intriguing aromas of kirsch, raspberry jam, wood spice, and mulberries are found in this full-bodied Petrus. An undeniable success in 2011, it is rich, layered and pure with light to moderate tannin, but seems slightly less muscular and tannic compared to its stablemate, Trotanoy. Forget it for a few years and drink it over the following 25 years. Made from 100% Merlot, it tips the scales at 13.5% alcohol. In short, it is typically open-knit and already showing very well. This is quite opulent.

Château Petrus

Petrus

Petrus is one of the most emblematic and sought-after wines of the Pomerol appellation, occupying a special place in the Bordeaux wine landscape. Unlike the grands crus classés of the Médoc, Pomerol has no official classification, but Pétrus has established itself over time as the absolute reference of the appellation, recognised for the uniqueness of its terroir and the exceptional consistency of its wines.

The Petrus vineyard rests on a unique plateau of ferruginous clay soils, dominated by a high proportion of blue clay, rare in Bordeaux. This terroir gives the wines a dense structure, remarkable depth and an immediately recognisable identity. The grape variety is almost exclusively composed of Merlot, a grape which finds here an expression of rare intensity.

The international renown of Petrus was built in the 20th century, notably under the impetus of remarkable figures who shaped its style and reputation. Petrus wines are distinguished by their richness, silky texture and exceptional aging potential. Among the emblematic vintages Petrus 1961, Petrus 1982, Petrus 1989, Petrus 1990, Petrus 2000, Petrus 2005, Petrus 2009, Petrus 2010, Petrus 2011, Petrus 2016, Petrus 2017, Petrus 2018, regularly cited among the greatest wines of Bordeaux.
