Izak Litwar - Great Wines from Bordeaux This wine has aged remarkably well for an 80-year-old. Its nose is sophisticated, with truffle notes, and its palate is exquisite, with remarkable structure, depth and length. Lively and refined, it offers a splendid mid-palate and a long finish. This is a fabulous wine.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
A deep mahogany core with tawny rim. A very sweet, intense nose with brilliant definition. Mushroom, spice, liquorice: all very complex and engaging. Very smooth entry, superb balance with silky smooth tannins and racy acidity which lends the wine so much freshness. Superb concentration, firm tannins, more weight than either Beychevelle or Langoa. There is just that sweet core of red berried fruit with a delicious finish of cooked meats. A magnificent Las-Cases.

Deep, dark and remarkably vibrant, showing layers of black cherry, plum and silky spice flavours. A little chewy, powerful up front and gentle on the finish. Feels like it still can improve.

Several very variable notes but mainly excellent... Fabulous colour; rich, blossoming bouquet; but still very tannic.

Château Leoville Las Cases
Château Leoville Las Cases

Château Léoville Las Cases is one of the most iconic estates in the Saint-Julien appellation, renowned for the precision, depth and longevity of its wines. Classified as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it has distinguished itself for over a century through an uncompromising level of quality and consistency that places it at the very top of the Médoc hierarchy.

Originating from the former Léoville estate, the Château Léoville Las Cases vineyard is today protected by a historic enclosure — a rare distinction in Bordeaux — which guarantees a strong parcel identity. Situated on the immediate banks of the Gironde, facing the great terroirs of Pauillac, the estate benefits from a privileged environment conducive to slow, even ripening of the grapes.

The Grand Vin, often austere in its youth, requires many years of cellaring and boasts numerous highlights: the 1982 vintage, 1990 and the 1996 vintage among the great classics, 2000, the 2005 wine and the 2010 vintage for the more recent period. Alongside it, the Clos du Marquis, a wine in its own right sourced from neighbouring plots, and Le Petit Lion, a more approachable second wine, complete the estate's range.
