expert's opinions
RVF Magazine Still reserved, it displays a certain firmness in its tannins. But the expression of the body with delicate notes of spice and toast defines the style of the vintage.

The wine has improved significantly since the primeurs, gaining a point. Its presentation today is particularly appealing. Last year, I criticized it for a lack of structure, an impression erased today. Rich without being exuberant, extremely well-constructed, it finishes with a very strong note of pleasure and a totally unspeakable character. A well-structured and suave finish in the persistence. This is the champion of exoticism this year at Saint-Estèphe. Don't hesitate to taste it young.

Oaky, round, lush and ready to drink, with its medium/full bodied, licorice, smoke, espresso, blackberry, plum and tobacco filled charm.

Displays blackberry, tar and clove on the nose. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a chocolate and berry undertone that's slightly spicy. A little hollow and chewy now, but should come together nicely with bottle age.

Tasted blind at Farr Vintners' horizontal, the 2006 Haut Marbuzet has a perfumed bouquet with redcurrant and cranberry scents, slightly savoury and meaty. The palate is balanced but needs more depth. Laden with abundant and quite plump, ferrous red fruit, it then cuts away too rapidly on the finish, although the Moroccan spices loitering around on the aftertaste give some pleasure.

Tasted blind. Light nose. A bit dull and unfocused. Lots of tannin and a bit of a shortage of fruit. Very sucky stony on the end.
