RVF Magazine Still reserved, it displays a certain firmness in its tannins. But the expression of the body on delicate notes of spices and toast is the signature style of the estate.

Jean-Marc Quarin March - 2008
Jean-Marc Quarin
The wine has progressed strongly since the primeurs, having gained a point. Its presentation today is particularly attractive. Last year, I criticised it for lacking structure, an impression that has been erased today. Rich without being exuberant, extremely well constructed, it finishes by offering a very strong pleasure note and a totally irresistible character. Structured and smooth finish with persistence. It is the champion of exoticism this year in Saint-Estèphe. Do not hesitate to taste it young.

Displays blackberry, tar and clove on the nose. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a chocolate and berry undertone that's slightly spicy. A little hollow and chewy now, but should come together nicely with bottle age.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Tasted blind at Farr Vintners' horizontal, the 2006 Haut Marbuzet has a perfumed bouquet with redcurrant and cranberry scents, slightly savoury and meaty. The palate is balanced but needs more depth. Laden with abundant and quite plump, ferrous red fruit, it then cuts away too rapidly on the finish, although the Moroccan spices loitering around on the aftertaste give some pleasure.

Tasted blind. Light nose. A bit dull and unfocused. Lots of tannin and a bit of a shortage of fruit. Very sucky stony on the end.

Château Haut Marbuzet

Château Haut-Marbuzet is a 61-hectare wine estate owned by the Duboscq family, located in Saint-Estèphe. It is a Médoc AOC and is classified as an exceptional Cru Bourgeois. The work of the Duboscq family has made Château Haut-Marbuzet a wine of the highest quality among Saint-Estèphe wines. Château Haut Marbuzet is also full of charm in its youth, developing wonderful spicy notes and red fruit aromas. Considered by some as the most Burgundian of Bordeaux wines, Château Haut Marbuzet was consecrated as Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel during the revision of the Crus Bourgeois classification in June 2003.
