Andreas Larsson - Tasted
Excellent purity and definition, ripe, pure Cabernet Sauvignon, cassis, dark cherry, cigar box and fine oak, good grip on the palate, dense and dark fruity, good depth, fine quality tannin, powdery, refined and refreshing with a very long, intense aftertaste, superbly elegant and stylish.

This is a wine with big tannins and big fruit. You can feel the wood rather than taste it, certainly smell it initially before the black currant aromas kick in. Impressive and sumptuous, it has a solid density that layers with the smoky character of the fruit and wood. Rich and complex, it needs to age. Drink from 2025.

Falstaff June - 2013

Dark, dense ruby red. Fine aromas of dark fruits, blackberries, a hint of cassis, underscored by exotic spices. Juicy and complex, almost light-footed, with refined structure, very fine, well-integrated tannins, pronounced fruit finish and convincing length – an impressive achievement, particularly given the vintage.

The complex, earthy, campfire, tobacco, cedar and dark berry filled nose opens to a wine with round tannins and a sweet, fresh, spicy dark fruit filled finish.

Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
Deep ruby in colour, with a seductive smoky, campfire crackle on the aromatics and plentiful black fruits that are softening to autumnal berries but still so full of expressive liquorice, sage, crayon, eucalyptus and creamy tarte tatin. Balanced, delicious, with supple tannic architecture that is ready to release the fruits. No rush to drink but moving into its drinking window.

Wine Spectator March - 2015

Offers an almost lavish feel, with layers of warmed fig, blackberry paste and raspberry coulis lined with ganache, anise and fruitcake flavours. A rock-solid graphite note lines the finish, showing just the slightest twinge of the vintage's austerity. A very admirable effort.

Excellent, confidently vinified Ducru Beaucaillou: Begins round and full, transitions into an immensely precisely drawn tannin, long, fleshy, juicy finale on notes of fresh berries

Jancis Robinson April - 2023
Jancis Robinson
Deep crimson with garnet rim. Darker and more savoury than the 2011. More oaky. Pure, non-sweet cassis, stony. Lightly but finely structured, with elegance rather than voluptuousness of some vintages. Charming.

Château Ducru Beaucaillou
Château Ducru Beaucaillou

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is one of the most illustrious estates in the Saint-Julien appellation, classified as Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in 1855. Located on the deep gravel soils overlooking the Gironde estuary, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou owes its name to the "beautiful pebbles", these characteristic quartz stones that ensure perfect drainage and ideal thermal retention, essential conditions for the ripening of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Founded in the 18th century and acquired by the Borie family in 1941, the estate is now run by Bruno-Eugène Borie, who has profoundly strengthened the stylistic identity of this cru. Château Ducru-Beaucaillou has established itself as one of the most refined signatures of Saint-Julien, sought after for the precision of its aging, the exceptional quality of its fruit and the nobility of its tannins.

The vineyard sits on Günzian gravel ridges among the finest in the Médoc. Dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and complemented by Merlot, the blend produces wines of great depth, combining density, freshness and structure. The impeccably controlled aging in French oak barrels supports the structure without masking the expression of the terroir.

Vintages such as Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 1982, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 1995, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 1996, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2005, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2003 or Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2014 illustrate the consistency and exceptional aging potential of the estate, now regarded as a major reference among the great collectible wines of Bordeaux.
