There is much drinking pleasure to be found here but what it offers in terms of smooth texture and easy likability, it lacks in great depth and profundity. Very delicious Cos vintage to enjoy now.

Dense and powerful with tobacco, cherry and vanilla aromas and flavors. Full-bodied and very firm with a long finish.

1983 Cos d'Estournel offered light scents of earth, dark cherries, cassis, cedar and forest floor. Medium/full bodied, this fully mature wine ends with a spice and cassis sensation.

Evolved colour. Discreet nose, spicy with a note of saffron and caramel. On the palate the wine starts gently, a little fluid. It fills out in the middle and evolves upwards towards a finish with a taste of cedar and tannins not fully ripe. Normal length.

Falstaff January - 2010
Falstaff
Medium carmine garnet, broad ochre rim. Animal spice on the nose, of cherries and oranges, tobacco-like, intense herbal spice. Present tannins on the palate, some nougat, appears somewhat rough, lots of tannin, dissolving berry fruit, delicate bitter chocolate touch on the finish.

Château Cos D'Estournel
Château Cos D'Estournel

Château Cos d'Estournel is one of the most emblematic estates of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux. Classified as Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it owes its unique identity to its location on the hill of Cos and to the bold vision of its founder, Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel, a prominent figure of the 19th century nicknamed the "Maharajah of Saint-Estèphe".

From its beginnings, Cos d'Estournel established itself through a rare international ambition for the time, exporting its wines as far as Asia. This openness to the world is still reflected today in the château's unique architecture, inspired by the Far East, a true visual signature in the Médoc. The vineyard is based on a terroir of deep gravel mixed with clay, benefiting from the proximity of the Gironde estuary, giving the wines structure, depth and complexity.
