Jeannie Cho Lee
Jeannie Cho Lee (03-2014) A perfect Cheval Blanc that is beyond words. Gorgeous, complex flavours with evolved, bottle aged flavours of black truffle, forest floor and leather. Supple, gorgeous with very long finish. Silky tannins with all the elements in balance. This bottle was not recorked.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
A blockbuster Cheval Blanc and probably the greatest Cheval Blanc made during the sixties and seventies, this wine still has a dense, murky garnet color and knock-out aromatics of coffee, black fruit, and spice box. The wine is opulent and fleshy with enormous glycerin and power. It is still very muscular, also with slightly robust tannins to shed, but this wine seems almost immortal in terms of longevity. My best guess is that, from pristinely stored bottles, this wine is still in late adolescence and not yet at its peak of maturity.

A completely stunning wine, so rich and concentrated that we thought it might be Petrus. Thick, sweet, velvety, meaty - almost medicinal. Gloriously hedonistic. Pure pleasure.

Château Cheval Blanc
Château Cheval Blanc

Château Cheval Blanc is one of the most emblematic estates of the Saint-Émilion appellation, on the right bank of Bordeaux. Classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé A, it occupies a unique place in the history of the Bordeaux vineyard, both through the exceptional consistency of its quality and the singularity of its terroir and grape varieties. Located at the natural border between Saint-Émilion and Pomerol, the estate benefits from a rare mosaic of soils in Bordeaux, combining gravel, clay and sand.

The vineyard of Château Cheval Blanc extends over approximately 39 hectares, divided into numerous distinct plots, each vinified separately in order to preserve the expression of its terroir. The grape variety composition, dominated by Cabernet Franc, complemented by Merlot and a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, constitutes an exception in Saint-Émilion and gives the wines a slender structure, natural freshness and remarkable ageing potential.

The estate's philosophy is based on extremely precise plot viticulture, controlled yields and winemaking conducted with exacting standards and restraint. The ageing process accompanies the wine without ever masking the purity of the fruit or the complexity of the terroir. The wines of Château Cheval Blanc are distinguished by their rare balance between intensity, finesse and aromatic depth.

Among the emblematic vintages are notably Château Cheval Blanc 1947, Château Cheval Blanc 1949, Château Cheval Blanc 1955, Château Cheval Blanc 1982, Château Cheval Blanc 1990, Château Cheval Blanc 1998, Château Cheval Blanc 1989, Château Cheval Blanc 2000, Château Cheval Blanc 2005, Château Cheval Blanc 2010, regularly acclaimed for their longevity and elegance.
