CHÂTEAU MARGAUX 1962

The 1962 vintage is an example, rare at that time, of a successful late year. This is the second best vintage of the 1960s after the incredible 1961 vintage. Unfortunately, its elder, the 1961 vintage, caused this very fine wine to be somewhat forgotten.
Château Margaux 1962 is a great wine, rich, fleshy, well balanced and ripe. This Premier Cru Classé reveals a light color, wonderfully perfumed. This great wine is very pleasant to drink today and the magnums are remarkable.

Ruby-coloured; a fragrant, biscuity bouquet of considerable depth, lean, flavoury, but with a touch of tartness.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
(1-1998) This wine should be enjoyed now for the gorgeous, fully mature, and quickly evaporating bouquet. It is beginning to decline for sure, but the full, intensely cedary, fruity bouquet has merits. The flavours are soft.

Château Margaux
Château Margaux

Château Margaux is one of the most prestigious estates of the Margaux appellation and a major historical figure of Bordeaux excellence. Classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé in the official 1855 classification, the château draws on a terroir of fine, deep gravels that encourages the expression of a wine of rare elegance and great aromatic complexity.

The Grand Vin de Château Margaux has been recognised since the 17th century as one of the most accomplished expressions of the Bordeaux vineyard. It owes its qualities to the combination of an exceptional terroir, demanding viticulture and a winemaking approach oriented towards precision and balance. The finesse of the tannins, the aromatic depth, the freshness and the length on the palate are the constant hallmarks of the Margaux style.

The great vintages punctuate its history, from the 1953 wine, then the 1982 vintage to the 1990 and the 2000 vintage, through to the 2015, regarded as one of the estate's recent pinnacles. Le Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, the second wine, offers a more immediate interpretation. They illustrate the estate's ability to produce wines of great complexity, capable of evolving harmoniously over several decades, whilst retaining a remarkable clarity of their terroir.
