CHÂTEAU MARGAUX 1969

Tasting note: The grapes were really washed out by the heavy, almost continuous rainfall in September. Naturally, they could not reach a proper level of ripeness. 1969 is a small, mediocre wine, already fallen into the forgotten pages of history.

Grape variety/Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon (~75%), Merlot (~20%), Petit Verdot (~3%), Cabernet Franc (~2%) (variations may occur from one vintage to another)

Ageing: 18 to 24 months in new oak barrels

Maturity: Old wine

Food and Wine Pairing: Beef and game (deer, venison, wild boar), Pauillac lamb, Ceps (Risotto, pan-fried, omelette), Aged cheeses

Château Margaux

Château Margaux is one of the most prestigious estates in the Margaux appellation and a major historical figure of Bordeaux excellence. Classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé in the official 1855 classification, the château is built upon fine, deep gravel terroir that enables the expression of a wine of rare elegance and great aromatic complexity.

The Grand Vin of Château Margaux has been recognised since the 17th century as one of the finest expressions of the Bordeaux vineyard. Its qualities derive from a combination of exceptional terroir, demanding viticulture and winemaking focused on precision and balance. Tannic finesse, aromatic depth, freshness and length on the palate are the constant hallmarks of the Margaux style.

Iconic vintages such as Château Margaux 1899, Château Margaux 1949, Château Margaux 1953, Château Margaux 1982, Château Margaux 1990, Château Margaux 1990, Château Margaux 2000 and the iconic Château Margaux 2015 demonstrate the estate's ability to produce highly complex wines capable of evolving harmoniously over several decades, whilst retaining a remarkable clarity of terroir expression.
