Vinum Wine Magazine November - 2020
Vinum Wine Magazine
Never before have we tasted a Yquem en primeur that, in addition to its well-known qualities of elegance, balance, delicacy, precision and fruitiness, also possesses such great complexity, density and class. A magnificent wine, built for eternity – and yet already a pleasure to taste today.

Jancis Robinson April - 2025

Served blind but it was pretty obvious what this was. Pale orange. Sweet, glorious and with a strong note of almonds and apricot.

Unctuous, and equally racy, this full, rich, deep glass of sweet pleasure hits all the right marks. Layers of ripe, fleshy, tropical fruits slathered in honey, along with roasted almonds, vanilla, coconut, candied orange rind, and overripe pineapples from start to finish. In a decade, this will be off the hook.

Falstaff January - 2022
Falstaff
Deep gold, with an intense botrytis bouquet of saffron and dried apricots. The silky, damask-like texture is sensual and extravagant in its sheer abundance. Long and intense flavour that continues to develop. Quince tart, roasted walnuts, notes of cinnamon, star anise and spicy radish. On the finish, a very pronounced, bitter phenolic note emerges, which for me is the hallmark of a Yquem. RL

Jean-Marc Quarin November - 2024
Jean-Marc Quarin
Fragrant, suave nose. Hints of vanilla, candied fruit and liquorice. A palate with a tender, melting body, very fruity, with a liquorice relay from the mid-palate onwards, never felt so strongly in this cru. Good length.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 2007 d'Yquem is considered a perfect example of the Sauternes "miracle." Despite a chaotic spring and cool summer, the botrytis transformed the grapes, giving them ideal concentration throughout October. With 137 grams of residual sugar, it offers up a complex, fresh, enchanting bouquet with aromas of apricot, pineapple, saffron, orchard fruits and spices intertwined with a touch of white truffles. Full-bodied and concentrated, layered and seamless, the wine is fresh and tense on the mid-palate, with a long, penetrating and racy finish. Superb!

Château d'Yquem
Château d'Yquem

Château d'Yquem is an absolute reference among great sweet wines and holds a unique place in the viticultural history of Bordeaux. Located at the heart of the Sauternes appellation, the estate benefits from an exceptional terroir and microclimate that favour the development of botrytis cinerea. In the official 1855 classification, Château d'Yquem achieved an unrivalled status by being designated Premier Cru Supérieur, a distinction unique among the grands crus classés.

The identity of Château d'Yquem rests on an extreme level of rigour at every stage of production: very low yields, successive harvest passes (tries) and strict selection of grapes. Long the property of the Lur Saluces family, the estate has belonged since 1997 to the LVMH group, which has chosen to preserve the château's technical independence and historic standards of excellence.

In great years, Château d'Yquem produces vintages that have become iconic, such as the 1908 wine through to the 1921 vintage, considered its pinnacle, by way of 1928 and 1929 which close out a prosperous decade, then the 1937 wine and the 1963 vintage, illustrating an exceptional ageing capacity that can extend over several decades, or even beyond.
