Tasted alongside the 2009, which had not yet been bottled, I found this 2008 remarkable. It smells of black fruits, with a refined nose. The palate is immediately dense, yet also suave, aromatic and subtle, with flavour and fine tannins. The texture is equally high-end. A noble, unspittable finish. A great success.

German Stephan von Neipperg has spared no effort to restore this château's former glory, which had a strong reputation in the post-World War II years. Cultivation has become more rigorous, yields have been significantly reduced, and winemaking has taken modern approaches, giving the wines remarkable concentration. The château also produces a very expensive and highly sought-after wine outside the appellation, Mondotte.
