Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Deep garnet in colour, the 2010 Canon la Gaffeliere delivers classic plum preserves, boysenberries and cigar box scents with wafts of underbrush, dried roses and cinnamon stick. Full-bodied, the palate is built like a brick house with a solid line of grainy tannins and racy freshness supporting the dense fruit, finishing with compelling purity and great length.

This takes the power of the vintage and puts it in its pocket for later, preferring instead to let mouthwatering briar, loganberry, mulberry and blackberry fruit strut its way forward, enlivened with roasted wood spice and supported by suavely but thoroughly embedded iron-tinged structure. Should cruise for two decades.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Full-bodied, lush, round, opulent, and vibrant with a solid focus on its core of ripe, sweet, dark, and red plums, black cherries, liquorice, and herbs. I really like the opening floral accent in the nose. This is drinking just great today. Perhaps 45-60 minutes is ample decanting time.

Very attractive earthy minerality here, and a very elegant lift of kirsch-like cherry and floral character. The palate has a silky sweetness and a beautifully harmonious composure. It has sweet fruit, elegant tannins and a shimmering core of acidity that pushes through to an elegant finish. A beautiful young wine this.

Falstaff February - 2016
Falstaff
Dark ruby red, violet reflections, slightly watery rim. Fine nougat, ripe dark berry fruit, pleasant fine oak note, a multi-faceted bouquet, floral touch. Complex, juicy, freshly structured, fine tannins, persistent, cherry on the finish, very good length, mineral, a definitely promising future.

Wine Enthusiast January - 2011

A beautifully structured wine that is both ripe and elegant. It is bolstered by tannins, the acidity a great cutting edge. The black currant fruits are already delicious, although the tannins promise a great future.

Château Canon La Gaffelière
Château Canon La Gaffelière

German Stephan von Neipperg has spared no effort to restore this château's former glory, which had a strong reputation in the post-World War II years. Cultivation has become more rigorous, yields have been significantly reduced, and winemaking has taken modern approaches, giving the wines remarkable concentration. The château also produces a very expensive and highly sought-after wine outside the appellation, Mondotte.
