Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
One of the greatest wines ever produced ... anywhere ... is the 1990. Having consistently merited 100 points (if my scoring system went higher, it would be there), it continues to perform like a young wine, yet is accessible enough to be appreciated for its extraordinary combination of power, complexity, and majestic layers of flavour. The colour is a dark plum/ruby to the edge. The monumental bouquet offers up aromas of liquified charcoaled beef intermixed with pepper, smoke, creme de cassis, kirsch liqueur, truffles, and new saddle leather. This full-bodied, viscous, prodigious Chateauneuf du Pape must be tasted to be believed. It is more like a food than a beverage.

Jancis Robinson December - 2009
Jancis Robinson
Dark crimson. Rich and spicy with some peppery notes as though there were quite a bit of Syrah in here?? Still amazingly youthful. Indeed it seemed even more youthful in 2009 than it had done nine years earlier. Atypical for a Châteauneuf somehow, though not unlike a light port.

Domaine Henri Bonneau
Henri Bonneau (born in 1938) is the 12th generation of winemakers. He produced his first vintage in 1956. His estate covers only 6 hectares, primarily Grenache which normally accounts for over 90% of the blend, with small quantities of Mourvèdre, Counoise and Vaccarèse added. Henri Bonneau decides which cuvées he will make for each vintage. Sometimes one, or perhaps up to four. A brilliant winemaker and mischievous man, he continues to produce wines with a unique personality, outside of any fashion, trend or influence. Whether it's the ageing process or bottling, nothing here follows any financial logic or the standards of modern oenology. Unfortunately, the various cuvées, produced in very limited quantities, are particularly difficult to find.
