Sweet and pleasing. Pale red. Sweet and pleasing. Well balanced and relatively rich though tannins and acidity are pretty obvious. Very fresh.

Very round and plummy on the nose, with a mellow pencil-shaving quality and those opulent notes of fudge, tobacco and woodsmoke in the background. Sweetness of fruit here, with the palate rich and full-textured, with really quite fat, forward black fruits that nevertheless have a lip-smacking juiciness and racy edge of tannin and acidity. Chocolate and earthy, smoky notes emerge in the finish in a really attractive Beychevelle.

Jean-Marc Quarin January - 2003
Jean-Marc Quarin
Dark red. Good intensity. Beautiful. Clean. Medium intensity. Fruity. Fresh. Blackberry notes. The tactile sweetness and taste are present. The wine, with good body, quite juicy, develops on fine tannins and finishes flavourful, fruity, liquorice-like and long, with a coating and velvety sensation of tannin rarely achieved to date in this vintage. It is very good.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Elegant notes of damp earth, underbrush, sweet cherries, and currants arise from the modest bouquet. While a distinctive soil character dominates the fruit, it offers good richness, medium body, and moderate tannin in an elegant, stylish format.

Château Beychevelle
Château Beychevelle

Château Beychevelle is one of the most emblematic estates of the Saint-Julien appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux. Classified as a Fourth Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it has embodied for several centuries a singular style, at once elegant, balanced and profoundly Médocain. Its name, derived from the legend of "Baisse-Voile" (Lower the Sail), directly refers to its majestic location on the banks of the Gironde and its historical role in Bordeaux river trade.

The vineyard of Château Beychevelle extends over approximately 90 hectares, planted predominantly with Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a small proportion of Petit Verdot. The deep gravel soils, typical of Saint-Julien, ensure optimal drainage and promote regular maturation, contributing to the qualitative consistency of the cru.

The wines of Beychevelle are distinguished by their harmony, silky texture and aromatic finesse, combining black fruits, spicy notes and a subtly oaked touch. Capable of evolving gracefully over several decades, they rank among the classic references of the Médoc. Vintages such as Château Beychevelle 1947, Château Beychevelle 1967, Château Beychevelle 1989, Château Beychevelle 1983, Château Beychevelle 1986, Château Beychevelle 2005, perfectly illustrate the consistency and ageing potential of this great wine.
