Dark, gleaming ruby. Absolutely needs air, as the first impression is dominated by herbal, spicy and animal notes. In the decanter, the wine develops superbly. The animal aromas give way to a rich, blackberry fruit, the structure on the palate is silky and very smooth, the tannin framework is fine-grained, the acidity juicy. A southern French classic that demands attention and then rewards it richly.
