La Revue du Vin de France January - 2010
La Revue du Vin de France
It ranks in the top five of the best Pomerols. A success reminiscent of the memorable 1982. Soft palate, flavoursome tannins, elegant fruit and oak (93% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc). Éric Murisasco, who takes over from Jean-Claude Berrouet, has made a great impact!

Similar concentration to the Certan, with that kirsch-like, tightly-wound fruit suppleness and taut quality. On the palate there's a sudden flood of fruit sweetness, with the rich cassis and juicy plum depth flooding across the palate, backed by a coffee and chocolate depth. Great length and suave, suede-like presence here.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Medium-bodied, plummy, round and floral with intriguing notes of mint, herbs, thyme, truffle and wild cherries. The nose is more complex than the palate, which offers earthy plums and herbs with a breath of cocoa in the short finish. This is quite good for the vintage, but it is only a moderately good vintage for Trotanoy.

The color was slightly evolved, and like the 2006, the nose needed some airing. On the other hand, the palate showed good fruit consistency and even a refined touch after the mid-palate. A sappy and fragrant finish. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. A pleasant surprise.

Bright ruby. Salty, round, not as much density as L'Hospitalet de Gazin 2010 Pomerol but recognisably Trot in a pale register. A bit light and fresh

Château Trotanoy
Château Trotanoy, Pomerol and Lalande-de-Pomerol. This illustrious estate, whose name meant "too annoying" in old French (referring to the difficulty of working the soil), is located on one of the best-exposed parts of the famous Pomerol plateau and was acquired in 1953 by Etablissements Jean-Pierre MOUEIX, who have been operating it since. The mixed soils – half gravel over clay and half deep black clay – on a bed of iron deposits give the wine both power and depth as well as great complexity. The Château TROTANOY vineyard, partly spared by the dramatic frosts of 1956, has an average age of nearly 35 years. It is cultivated in a traditional manner (regular ploughing, thinning, leaf removal) and ideally harvested over two or three afternoons. Fermentation takes place in concrete vats and the young wine is then aged in oak barrels, half of which are renewed each year. Château TROTANOY is among the most sought-after wines of the appellation and can be kept for several decades in great vintages.
