Dark red colour. Good intensity. Slight evolution. Nose of medium intensity. Fruity. Very fresh. Very young. Impossible to date. Succulent in the brilliance of its fruit, the palate also possesses the charm of mature tannins. Never overwhelming, very juicy, the temptation to swallow is relentless, with a beautiful quality of aromas on the finish. A fine wine, but a little more body would transcend it.

Still a youthful deep rubypurple color, the 1989 Magdelaine's aromatics are beginning to emerge after a period of dormancy. Sweet kirsch and black cherry fruit intermixed with spice and a subtle herbaceousness and earthiness are present. On the palate, the wine is classic in terms of marrying elegance with ripeness and finesse. Moderate tannin remains in the finish. Overall, this is a measured, firmly structured, high quality Magdelaine that still requires a few more years of cellaring, atypical for the 1989 vintage in this sector of Bordeaux.
