A bit funky and dry, but there's plenty of berries, chocolate and meat in this wine. Full-bodied and very soft, with lots of ripe fruit character.

Blood red colour. Good intensity. Bright. Intense nose, but there is some alcohol. Tender and almost sweet attack. Supple, round, rich and flavoursome structure. Very well-balanced tannin that lingers long with fruit and nuance. Real pleasure on the palate.

The 1989 La Cabanne has a healthy deep brick colour commensurate with its age. The nose is soft and mushroomy, nicely defined, fully mature with mulberry, undergrowth and morello cherries developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins. This is better than a previous bottle I have encountered, not complex but nicely balanced with a light, balsamic finish. Fine.
