Gilbert & Gaillard March - 2012
Gilbert & Gaillard
Deep gold with amber reflections. Open nose with pronounced fruity character (apricot, dried fig). The palate presents an exemplary blend of presence, vinosity and freshness. Sensation of fullness and immense length. A brilliant champagne.

This harmonious Champagne offers luxurious texture and powerful, focused acidity, showing aromatic accents of spring blossom, crushed thyme and chai, with rich notes of lemon meringue, hazelnut, blackcurrant and fresh porcini mushroom. The full package. Impressive.

Jancis Robinson October - 2015

Very different nose – extremely dense and layered. But good freshness. Youthful. Some yeasty beeriness. Lots of layers. Jeroboam? No, this very fine wine was the magnum.

Vinum Wine Magazine December - 2012

The long ageing has done it good: the nose possesses the typical Krug spice of butter, pastry and oak, paired with fruity accents; begins gently and refined, mature and round, but in the finale race and freshness come to the fore. Today the finest wine of this complex vintage tasted so far! Just right now.

Krug

Champagne Krug is a Champagne house based in Reims for over 160 years. The Krug house was founded in 1843 by Johann-Joseph Krug, originally from Mainz (under French rule - see: History of Mainz). It now belongs to the luxury group LVMH. It is run by Rémi Krug, representing the fifth generation, and by cellar master Éric Lebel.

Among the main techniques used is vinification in wood in small 205-liter barrels made from oak from the Argonne forest. With an average age of 35 years, the barrels are repaired by the house's coopers and reused from one year to the next. According to the cellar master: "The longevity of our champagnes is intimately linked to the time they spend in the barrels." Krug champagnes are only marketed when mature; in 2005, the 1990 vintage was delivered. For some champagnes, the house releases old vintages that have been preserved even longer, such as the 1981 vintage, which was disgorged and marketed in 2006 in less than 2,000 bottles under the name Krug Collection.
