Wine Enthusiast January - 2016
Wine Enthusiast
This is a fabulous wine from the greatest Champagne vintage so far this century. Still young, it blends almost equal amounts of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay fleshed out with Pinot Meunier. The minerality and the rich apple and green fruits are balanced, and acidity cuts into the wine with a pure, perfumed line of freshness. The wine could be drunk now, but it will age well into the the 2020s.

Falstaff June - 2020
Falstaff
Medium golden-yellow, silver shimmers, very delicate mousse. Scents of orange marmalade, white blossoms, a delicate nutty undertone of biscuits, a multi-faceted, well-evolved bouquet. Substantial texture, fresh yellow fruit, finesse and well balanced, notes of blossom honey, a little peach, seems incredibly youthful, fine caramel, delicate dried fruit, very, very long finish, juicy and animating. Great length, promising ageing potential, nothing less than a perfect Champagne.

Definitely more youthful with probably more potential than its pair (the 2004) but it's very tricky to guess the vintage. Hint of veginess and punch. Very long indeed. A real peacock’s tail on the finish. Impressive.

Jean-Marc Quarin September - 2018

Light yellow color. Intense nose, fine, fruity, finely buttery and without extravagance. Full on the attack, juicy in development, particularly aromatic on the mid-palate, the wine develops complex on a refined touch. It flies away in the last part of the mouth, long and unbelievable. Well done !

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Krug's 2002 Brut has an intense citrus color and opens with a generous, intense yet fine and precise bouquet that indicates great depth and elegance. Red fruit flavors on the nose lead to a generously rich yet pure, highly refined and elegant palate, with lots of ripe cherry fruits and delicious yeasty flavors. This is a highly complex and tensioned but beautifully balanced 2002 with a charming dosage that gives perfect roundness. The finish, however, is clear, fresh and well-structured, if not taut, and very mineral. Tasted in Reims in April 2018.

Krug Champagne house are based in Reims for more than 160 years. The Krug house was founded in 1843 by Johann-Joseph Krug, a native of Mainz (under the yoke of French - see: History of Mainz). It now belongs to the luxury group LVMH. It is headed by Remi Krug, representing the fifth generation, and the cellar master Eric Lebel.

Among the main techniques used, we find the wood in wine in small barrels made from 205-liter oak forest of Argonne. With an average age of 35 years the barrels are patched by coopers home and reused from one year to another. According to the cellar master: "The longevity of our champagnes is intimately linked to the residence they do in drums. ». Krug champagnes are sold at maturity in 2005 was the year of 1990 delivered. For some champagne, the house and lot of old vintages kept even longer as the year of 1981 has been disgorged and released in 2006 to less than 2,000 copies in the name Krug Collection.
