Haut Bages Liberal, a fifth growth, has a splendid plot very close to Château Latour and disperses the rest of its vineyard on the lands of Bages. It therefore has everything to produce a complete Pauillac. M. Bettane in The 1997 Classification. It has consistently produced an excellent, underestimated wine since the mid-70s. The vineyard, which was entirely replanted in the 60s, is now approaching maturity. R. Parker in Bordeaux Wines. Characteristics of Haut Bages Liberal wine: a dark colour, a bouquet of prune, truffle and toasted oak, its richness and concentration justify great ambitions after ageing. A spicy nose with animal and empyreumatic notes, a significant volume in the mouth, a great silky and persistent tannic structure.
