Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 1978 Giscours continues to offer delicious drinking. The colour is a healthy, nearly opaque dark garnet. The wine reveals a fragrant bouquet of cedar, dried herbs, black fruits, earth, and spice. It is medium-bodied, with outstanding concentration, a sweet mid-palate, and enough acidity to provide focus. This spicy, surprisingly rich as well as ripe 1978 continues to age marvellously well in the bottle. It is fully mature, but capable of lasting.

Château Giscours
Château Giscours

Château Giscours is a Bordeaux wine estate located in Labarde in the Gironde. Château Giscours produces wines under the Margaux AOC. It is among the Third Growth classified in the official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification, and is one of the largest estates in the Médoc. The vineyard covers nearly 86 hectares on a 300-hectare property. Giscours thus continues the legacy of generations of winemakers, making this estate a world-renowned Grand Cru.

Note the existence of a flawless second wine: La Sirène de Giscours.

The best vintages of Giscours are the 1945 wines, the 1961, 1982 and 1989 vintages which are excellent. Finally, the 1990 vintage, the grand crus from 2000 and 2009 as well as the 2015 vintage are among the Château's finest achievements.
