expert's opinions
This is close to its peak today. With a splash decanting, the nose popped with its chocolate mint, flowers, plums and truffle character. Soft and silky, the sensuous finish, with its layers of plums, black cherries, cocoa and truffle sealed the deal. 96 Points

Served blind. Beautiful balance with a dry end. Absolutely classic claret. Pure and simple

Succulent wine at the moment.

Quite rich nose. Sweet, spicy, quite aggressive. Not ready yet and a bit brutal and spiky. Very chewy finish.

(4-2001)
The finest La Fleur-Petrus I have tasted, this dense rubypurple-coloured wine exhibits aromas and flavours of Chinese black tea, raspberries, kirsch liqueur, and flowers. Elegant, yet crammed with concentrated fruit, it is symmetrical, harmonious and long, with tremendous persistence on the palate. Whilst not a blockbusterheavyweight, it is a wine of finesse and richness that admirably balances power with elegance. A great success!

(2009)
Aromas of mushrooms and olives, turning to crushed blackberries. Full-bodied, with soft, round tannins and sweet ripe fruit. Long and flavourful. Why wait on this pretty wine?

Château informations
Neighbour of Petrus, Château La Fleur-Pétrus is a remarkable Pomerol, refined and round, one of the greatest Pomerols, absolutely essential and still accessible, if one can say so. The terroir of Château La Fleur-Pétrus plays its role fully, with deep gravel soil that gives the wine a natural elegance and finesse. The Cabernet Franc, used in greater quantity, gives superb results, with wines that need almost ten years of aging!
