Bottle was in great condition...very high fill in neck. Not a blockbuster, but still had some fruit to go with the completely resolved tannins. Had an "older bordeaux" smell which I love.

Information on the vintage 1975: Despite being pronounced optimistically a vin de garde ...in 1976, the wines have turned out to be irregular; indeed for some time now it has been a controversial vintage. Unquestionably better than the three preceding vintages and certainly interesting, not to say challenging.

Clos Fourtet

Château Clos Fourtet is a Bordeaux wine estate located in the commune of Saint Emilion in Gironde. The grand vin Clos Fourtet is a Premier Grand Cru Classé B of Saint-Emilion.

Clos Fourtet currently has nearly 18.7 hectares of vines. Its terroir is naturally drained with clay-limestone soil. The vines are 25 years old on average. The harvest is carried out following great winemaking traditions with hand-picking, while respecting the environment through the use of organic fertilizers. The grape variety composition consists of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc.

The best wines from Château Clos Fourtet are the 1945 wines, the 1949 and 1953 vintages, the 1962 vintage, the grand crus from 1982 and 1989. Finally, the 1990 vintage, 2005 and 2009 wines are exceptional.
