Jeannie Cho Lee November - 2016
Jeannie Cho Lee
This Clos de la Roche has a gorgeous perfume - very sweet, floral and lifted. The palate is layered, focused and typical of Rousseau - combining lightness with depth and intensity. Lovely gorgeous Clos de la Roche that has finesse and will age for decades easily.

Offering ripe, plummy fruit, this red also reveals sandalwood, spice, mineral and subtle coconut aromas and flavors. Fresh and well-built, with a sense of elegance and power. Seems a little awkward now, but the finish is long. Be patient.

Guide vert 2018 Floral notes, lilac and a light smokiness compose the pure and intense aromatic expression of the Clos de la Roche. Firmness, brilliance, straightforwardness and nervous tension on the finish make this a highly successful wine.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 2015 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru is excellent, opening in the glass with a complex bouquet of red and black cherry, plum preserve, grilled meat, dried ceps and espresso roast, framed by a judicious application of cedary oak (20% new). On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and firmly framed, with unusual depth and concentration for this cuvée, its ample chassis of tannins asserting itself on the firm finish.

Domaine Armand Rousseau
Domaine Armand Rousseau

Domaine Armand Rousseau was founded at the beginning of the 20th century by Armand Rousseau. The estate comprises more than 15 hectares of vines, including 8.5 hectares of Grand Crus and 3.8 hectares of Premier Crus cultivated using sustainable farming methods. The vineyard soils are limestone and clay-limestone.

Domaine Armand Rousseau produces six emblematic Burgundy Grand Crus: Chambertin, Charmes Chambertin, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Ruchottes Chambertin, Mazy Chambertin and Clos de la Roche.

The wine aging is done in 100% new oak barrels for Chambertin Clos de Bèze. Clos Saint Jacques is aged in 70% to 100% new barrels depending on the vintage. All other Grand Crus are aged in one-wine barrels. The barrels come from Allier forests and undergo medium toasting. The aging period is 20 months, during which two rackings are performed. Bottling usually takes place in April after a light plate filtration to preserve the delicate fruit of Pinot Noir. The wine is bottled by gravity, directly from the barrels after blending.

The wines from Domaine Armand Rousseau are made for long-term aging: 15 years for Premier Crus and 20 years for Grand Crus.
