A fabulous success for Trotanoy, this wine has considerable potential, and may ultimately merit a higher score than I have bestowed upon it. The 1995 boasts a saturated deep purple color, followed by a knock-out nose of black truffles, cherries, raspberries, and kirsch fruit intermixed with spicy oak and beef blood-like scents. Full-bodied, dense, and as powerful and backward as its rival, Lafleur, this broad-shouldered, super-extracted Trotanoy is superb, but don't make the mistake of thinking it will provide easy-going drinking over the near-term. While splendid, this wine possesses extremely high tannin, and needs at least 7-8 years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2025. Bravo!
After continuously expressing my disappointment with the wines produced at Trotanoy between 1983 and 1989, I am thrilled with what has been taking place since the 1990 vintage. The 1995 and 1996 vintages are both impressive, with the 1995 unquestionably the finest Trotanoy since the extraordinary 1982.

Lots of red berry character, with undertones of wet earth and fresh mushrooms. Full-bodied, with a bounty of fruit and loads of velvety tannins. Long, sweet fruit and caressing texture mark the finish.

Trotanoy
Château Trotanoy, Pomerol et Lalande-de-Pomerol. This illustrates that thought the name meant in Old French word too anoia "or" too boring "(when working the land) is located on one of the best exposed portions of the famous plateau of Pomerol and was acquired in 1953 by the firm Jean-Pierre Moueix, since operators. The soil mix - half of them serious based on clay and half deep black clay - on a bed of iron dross, giving the wine both power and depth and a complexity. The vineyard Chateau Trotanoy partly saved by the dramatic frosts of 1956, is approaching an average age of 35 years. It is cultivated in the traditional way (regular plowing, thinning, stripping) and picked up ideally in two or three afternoons. Fermentations take place in cement vats and the young wine is then aged in oak barrels, half of which is renewed annually. . Castle Trotanoy among the most sought after wines of the appellation and can be kept for decades in the great vintages. .
