Château De Rayne Vigneau

Château Rayne Vigneau was established at the beginning of the 17th century. The Vigneau de Bommes was its first owner. Gabriel de Vigneau appears in writings as early as 1635. His son Étienne married Jeanne Sauvage, daughter of the lord of Yquem, and personally took over the property in 1681. Madame de Rayne purchased the Vigneau estate in 1834.

The official 1855 classification places Château Rayne Vigneau among the First Growths of Sauternes. In 1867, the great broker Daney ranked it first immediately after Yquem. It was Albert de Pontac, Madame de Rayne's great-nephew, who gave the property its name "Rayne Vigneau".
Between 2004 and 2015, Château de Rayne Vigneau belonged to CA Grands Crus, a subsidiary of Crédit Agricole Group, which implemented an optimization plan for the entire vineyard. Since 2007, the château has adopted sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practices.

Today, Château de Rayne Vigneau, acquired by the Trésor du Patrimoine group, is managed by Vincent Labergère, assisted by the expertise of oenologist Henri Boyer. The château represents a reliable value in the appellation, claiming, vintage after vintage, a style full of intensity, length, and freshness.

The vineyard spans 84 hectares and the vines, averaging 30 years of age, consist of Sémillon (74%), Sauvignon Blanc (24%) and Muscadelle (2%). The harvesting remains traditional with successive selections. Hand-picked, only perfectly "roasted" grapes are gathered. The wines are aged for 18 months in oak barrels, of which 40% to 50% are new each year.
