La Revue du Vin de France
Fresher nose, mentholated notes, cedar; dense palate, very Lynch-Bages, lively fruitiness, spicy length, deep and aromatic material, "reframing" tannins perfectly balanced. Finishes very long on notes of graphite, florals, roasted fruits with spices. Great vintage.

Vertdevin April - 2021

The nose is magnificently constructed, elegant, refined and offers beautiful power (full of delicacy), a multi-layered character, depth, density, beautiful fineness of grain as well as complexity. This wine must be decanted and requires patience during tasting. It reveals notes of very ripe wild strawberry, bright wild blackberry and small notes of very ripe raspberry combined with small touches of Sichuan pepper, small blue fruits, lily, cornflower as well as notes of incense, sweet spices, toasted, nutmeg, a very discreet note of clove, undergrowth, an imperceptible saline note and sweet tobacco. The palate is elegant, delicate, juicy, fresh, beautifully powerful (full of control), very finely tight, refined and offers density, depth, a multi-layered character, structure and beautiful fineness of fat. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of bright wild blackberry, ripe wild raspberry and small notes of small wild fruits combined with a touch of fresh plum, violet, lily as well as notes of sweet tobacco, clove and an imperceptible touch of undergrowth. The tannins are refined. Good length and persistence. A very discreet firmness on the persistence. A very beautiful wine!

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Deep garnet coloured, the 2010 Lynch Bages comes sailing out of the glass with notes of redcurrant jelly, black cherry compote and cassis plus wafts of smoked meats, tar, cigar box and dried roses. Full-bodied, the palate is stacked with red and black fruit layers, framed by ripe, firm, fine-grained tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing very long.

Wine Spectator March - 2013

Roasted cedar, tobacco and bay leaf notes start off this structured but lively bottling, with intense currant, blackberry and black cherry flavours at the core. The iron-laced grip and pleasantly austere plum pit and liquorice snap accents fill in on the tar-tinged finish. Great range, character and typicity. If you ever need to explain Pauillac to someone, give them this.

Jancis Robinson February - 2020

Tasted blind. Second sample (and cooler because straight from the Farr cellar). Youthful crimson colour. Fragrant and cedary. A little bit herbaceous. Taut, firm and dry but beautifully structured. Juicy even with all that cedary character. Lots of tension and needs time to meld more fully. Still pretty firm, dry tannins.

Château Lynch Bages
Château Lynch Bages

Château Lynch-Bages is one of the great names of the Pauillac appellation, classified as a Fifth Grand Cru Classé in 1855. Located on the historic plateau of Bages, in the heart of the Médoc, this wine has embodied for several generations the controlled power and qualitative consistency that make the reputation of the great wines of Bordeaux.

The history of Château Lynch-Bages begins in the 18th century with the Lynch family, of Irish origin, before the property was taken over in the 20th century by the Cazes family. Since its acquisition by Jean-Charles Cazes in 1939, then under the impetus of Jean-Michel Cazes and today of Jean-Charles Cazes, the estate has continuously strengthened its identity and international renown. This family continuity constitutes a central element of Château Lynch-Bages's singularity.

The vineyard rests on deep, ideally drained Garonne gravel, an emblematic terroir of Pauillac, particularly favourable to Cabernet Sauvignon, the predominant grape variety in the blend. It gives birth to structured, distinguished wines built for ageing, combining aromatic intensity, tannic straightness and precision.

Vintages such as Château Lynch-Bages 1982, Château Lynch-Bages 1995, Château Lynch-Bages 2000, Château Lynch-Bages 1989, Château Lynch-Bages 2009 or Château Lynch-Bages 2010 illustrate the remarkable consistency of the cru and its essential status among the collectable wines of Pauillac.
