Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
With an unbelievable nose of liquorice, tapenade, black cherry and blackcurrant liqueur, as well as full body, super-sweet tannin, and astonishing richness and length, this prodigious effort in 2005 announced the resurrection of this great terroir on the slopes near Château Pavie. Dark garnet/plum/purple, this is compelling stuff and drinkable already, but capable of lasting another 25-30 years. This beauty is not to be missed! Only 3,000 cases were produced.

Adrian van Velsen - vvWine
Very Bordeaux, open, expansive, mint, floral notes, coffee, peppery spice. On the palate elegant, delicate, with pressure and finesse, distinctive structure, fine tannins, the acidity enlivens, finishes with red fruit and long. Elegant!

Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
Ruby red in colour, tobacco, liquorice and smoky oak on the nose. This was one of the more austere wines during En Primeur and over its first decade, but it has fully integrated now, with supple, plump tannins, lashings of black fruit, fresh truffle, orange peel, saffron, waves of fresh acidity, decades ahead of it. It's on the understated side, with so much of the power remaining reserved rather than overt, but the intensity ramps up as you sit with the glass, and this is a stunning wine that sings of the slow-ageing, teasing nature of limestone. 55% new oak.

Falstaff May - 2006
Falstaff
Deep dark ruby garnet, almost black core, violet reflections, very fine dried fruit notes on the nose, delicate earthy hints. On the palate fresh, red berry, strongly leafy, somewhat angular tannins, still appears somewhat unfinished, fresh cherry note on the aftertaste.

This is packed with crushed rocks and stones, on the nose and salty palate, which is perfect for its layers of flowers, liquorice, fresh plums, cherries and bitter chocolate. Full-bodied, energetic and with a salty, tannic finish, give it perhaps another year or two in the cellar and enjoy for at least 2 decades after that.

Jean-Marc Quarin June - 2016
Jean-Marc Quarin
Intense colour, beautiful and slightly evolved. Very aromatic nose, quite subtle, with ripe fruitiness. Round palate at the start, juicy and flavoursome in the middle, but finishing too harsh at the end to claim a better rating. Normal length. For information, this wine was purchased at the château for the occasion. Variations from one bottle to another.

Jancis Robinson February - 2017

Dark crimson with some evolution at the rim. Aromatic and attractive with some dustiness underneath. Very limpid and fluid, with the fruit preceding the tannin on the palate as it should. Lots of ambition here. Not yet ready.

Château Larcis Ducasse
Château Larcis Ducasse
Château Larcis-Ducasse, Grand Cru Classé, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. "I discovered something with this tasting: the definition of luxury wine is time. The time we take to make it, the time it takes to develop. The time it persists in the mouth and its life in the bottle", marvels Jacques Gratiot, owner of Larcis-Ducasse. This tasting? A vast journey back in... time. 1945, 1952, 1966, 1967, 1970 then all vintages from 1973 to 2005.
