Wow, this is very spicey, heavy pepper notes like bell peppers and jalapeños, also leather and cherry mushrooms and moss. Drinking really well, still has decent fruit, nice acidity and resolved tannins.

Readers should keep an eye out for Lafon-Rochet, one of the emerging stars of St-Estèphe. Beginning with the 1994 vintage, the stricter selection and dedication of the Tesseron family are pushing this wine into a higher qualitative category. Moreover, prices for Lafon-Rochet remain low! A spicy, green pepper, vegetal component detracted from this dark, opaque-coloured wine. Whilst it possesses hard tannin, there is also plenty of fruit (especially for a 1993). The wine is likely to dry out quickly, but those who like a rough and tumble style of Bordeaux with plenty of guts and muscle, are advised that this wine represents a good value.

Bright red colour, medium intensity. Clean nose, medium intensity, vanilla. Vegetal note, then cherry. Touch of alcohol on swirling. Soft and fruity attack, developing on a round-shaped structure, rather juicy, which evolves on increasingly tight tannins that leave a slightly dry finish, even though there is fruit before.
