Masses of notes for I bought several cases for home drinking and entertaining. I rather regret drinking mine too early. The most recent notes made at tastings : crisp, taught, long term. At Christies Masterclass in 2000 : showing well, impressively dense appearance; beautiful bouquet. Lots of fruit and flesh. .

Acker Merrall and Condit:

The angels were definitely singing from first sip, which was a 1982 Grand Puy Lacoste. This was classic Pauillac in the nose with aromas of cedar, nut and mineral backed by rich cassis fruit. I found the palate to be soft and lush, in a delightfully drinkable window that felt like it could stay open for a while. Its acidity was low, and one commented that ‘it doesn’t have the weight,’ but I was charmed by its tasty and fruit-filled personality. This really seemed ready to go and enjoy, and that isn’t a bad thing.

This is a tour de force, and one of the all-time great Grand-Puy-Lacostes ever produced, as I hope the 2000 and 2005 will become. This is a tour de force, and one of the all-time great Grand-Puy-Lacostes ever produced, as I hope the 2000 and 2005 will become. This is an inkypurple, beefy, broad, super-rich Pauillac revealing classic creme de cassis notes intermixed with hints of spring flowers and crushed rocks. Full-bodied with sweet tannin, shocking concentration, and layers of fruit, this irresistible 1982 is still an adolescent in terms of its evolution. .

Not as impressive as it once was; nonetheless, a rich and caressing wine. Sweet berry flavor, with hints of tobacco and raisin. Medium- to full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a caressing finish. .

Grand Puy Lacoste

Château Grand-Puy Lacoste, Fifth Classified Growth in the 1855 Médoc wine classification. At the end of the 1970s, this grand cru from Pauillac was taken over by Jean-Eugène Borie, owner of Ducru-Beaucaillou, who entrusted the reins to his son François-Xavier. Since then, the estate has continued to gain in finesse and easily make a good fourth growth or even a third growth.

The castle produces a second wine, Lacoste-Borie. It is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and, of course, Merlot grapes. Château Lacoste Borie associates on the same label two well-known names in the Médoc viticultural, that of the Borie family, owner of several vintages, and that of Grand Puy Lacoste, cru classé of Pauillac. It represents in good years an interesting bottle for the amateur, whose wine can be drunk young.
