Information on the vintage 1949 red Bordeaux : 5/5 The third of the great trio of post-war vintages, Information on the vintage The third of the great trio of post-war vintages. Stylistically quite different from the concentrated '45s and the ripe and more opulent '47s. At their best, and there were many wines of great style, avoiding some of the contraints and excesses of the two other vintages, just mentioned.

Château Grand Puy Lacoste
Château Grand Puy Lacoste

Château Grand-Puy Lacoste is a Bordeaux wine estate. Classified as a Fifth Growth in the 1855 Médoc Classification, the Château has no less than hectares of vines.

The château also produces a second wine: Lacoste-Borie. It is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and of course Merlot grape varieties.

The finest years of Château Grand-Puy Lacoste are undoubtedly 1947, the 1949 wines, the 1959, 1970, and 1982 vintages. Finally, the 1986, 1990 vintages, the 1994 wines and 2009 grand crus are excellent.
