Once again, the decanted wine is vastly superior to the non-decanted wine, which only scores 15.75. Decanting causes a loss of aromatic nuances, but has given the wine's palate richness and smoothed out the slightly harsh tannic notes detected in the non-decanted sample. It's incredible to see the difference: one opens up, the other not at all.

Blackish ruby. Edgy. Lots of evolution and sweetness, less fresh than 2005 and 2006 vintages tasted before this. Very sweet and full and full-blown. Just slightly tarry on the end. Warm minerals.

Château Figeac

Château Figeac is a Bordeaux wine estate located in the commune of Saint Emilion. Premier grand cru classé in the official Saint-Emilion classification, it is one of the most influential châteaux of the appellation. The Château also produces a second wine: La Grange Neuve de Figeac.

The wines of Château Figeac have excellent ageing potential.

The finest achievements are the 1961 vintage, 1982, the 1985 wines, grand crus from 1986. More recent Château Figeac vintages show more power, roundness and fruity notes, the 2000 vintage, the 2005 and 2009 wines are spectacular.
