Dark red. Good intensity. Lively. Clean. Medium intensity. Wild (blackcurrant bud). Fruity. Medium intensity. Very fruity. Soft attack. Very fruity structure, developing quite ample and fleshy, juicy too, on firm tannins, with a slightly wild and animal flavour. Remarkably enveloped tannicity, on a dense background. Good persistence. Flavours of wood and extracted fruits. Rather successful.

The grand vin of Château Duhart-Milon is often described as a refined classic model of the Pauillac appellation, displaying a "reserved distinction with finesse". The assessment by broker Abraham Lawton in 1815, "...it presents itself with great firmness, good color and pronounced sap", illustrates the enduring character of Château Duhart-Milon (the "sap" of Médoc first growths is beautifully defined as "something of the smell that the best sealing wax gives off when burning").
