Tasted with Denis Dubourdieu at the chateau. To think: this wine was made whilst Denis Dubourdieu's father Pierre was being hidden by the French Resistence. It is a quite remarkable Barsac with exceptional clarity and precision on the nose: mandarin, candied orange peel, a touch of chlorophyll and spice. The palate is very well balanced with enticing acidity drawing you into the wine. Great clarity and wonderful tension, leading to a marmalade and dried apricot finish that still retains freshness and chutzpah. Superb. Tasted April 2011.
