Wine Enthusiast July - 2012

The Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus is a 10-acre parcel in the heart of the Grèves vineyard that once belonged to Carmelite nuns. This vintage, while marked by acidity and soft fruit, does have a firm edge of dark tannins, filled out with plum and red cherry flavors.

Gismondi on Wine : Typically floral, meaty, gamey nose with liquorice, smoke and cinnamon/cherry aromas. Ripe, round, dry and juicy with some youthful tannin that makes this a bit astringent right now. Gamey, cherry, raspberry, orange, mineral, tobacco, vanilla and cinnamon flavours. Good concentration and length but it's a bit wild at the moment.

A meaty, generous red, displaying cherry, licorice and iron flavors. There are dense tannins for support, and this follows through with a mineral aftertaste.

Delicate and fragrant with a light touch of oak spice. Already so silky and elegant. Really long.

Bouchard Père Et Fils
Bouchard Père Et Fils

Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest and most emblematic houses in Burgundy. Founded in 1731 in Beaune, this historic house has established itself over nearly three centuries as an essential reference for great Burgundy wines, from the Côte de Beaune to the Côte de Nuits.

Owner of an exceptional estate of over 130 hectares, a significant portion of which comprises Premiers Crus and Grands Crus, Bouchard Père & Fils holds prestigious parcels such as Beaune Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus, Meursault, Volnay, Pommard, Chevalier-Montrachet, Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze. This wealth of heritage gives the house a unique position in the Burgundy landscape, at the crossroads of historic négociant activity and premier wine estate.

Today part of the Artémis group (Pinault family), Bouchard Père & Fils initiated a comprehensive reflection on sustainable viticulture in 2009. Following a gradual implementation of agroecological practices, all the estate's parcels have been certified organic from the 2025 vintage onwards, reinforcing the house's commitment to quality and environmental responsibility.

The Bouchard Père & Fils style is distinguished by precise vinification, respect for climates and a constant pursuit of balance between fruit purity, structure and ageing potential. Vintages such as Bouchard Père & Fils 1982, Bouchard Père & Fils 1997, Bouchard Père & Fils 2004, Bouchard Père & Fils Blanc 2008, Bouchard Père & Fils Blanc 2009 and Bouchard Père & Fils 2014 illustrate the house's ability to produce wines of great longevity, sought after by Burgundy wine enthusiasts and collectors.
