Dark garnet robe. Complex and evolving aromas of pepper, farmyard notes, spice box, mulch, and a fine aromatic touch of dried bay leaf. On the palate, the fruit is transparent, with fine acidity in the mid-palate and a beautiful soft tannic base on the aftertaste.

Château Batailley
Château Batailley

Château Batailley is a Bordeaux wine estate. In the Pauillac AOC, it is classified as a 5th Grand Cru Classé in the official 1855 Médoc wine classification, and is one of the jewels of the Castéja family and Borie-Manoux. The name of this property comes from the word Battle, which took place in 1453 on the vineyards and the Château. This was the Hundred Years' War.

During this war, the French recaptured Château Latour, which was occupied by the English and marked the end of British rule in Aquitaine. In the 17th century, vines were planted on these lands rich in history. The park of the Château was designed in the 19th century by Barillet-Deschamps, landscape architect of Napoleon III. Château Batailley is a classic Pauillac, with a dark ruby colour, well-structured and pronounced notes of blackcurrant.

The best vintages of Château Batailley are 1959, 1982. The 2000 vintage and the 2009 wines are excellent. Finally, the 1990 grand cru classés and 2005 grand crus are particularly exceptional.
