In 1909 Maurice de Boüard inherited the château then called Mazerat. It was not until 1924 that he acquired a nearby 3-hectare pen called L'Angelus. On this occasion, the name change takes place. The Château Angelus owes its success to Hubert de Boüard de Laforest, its director, who has raised its quality to the level of excellence.
Since 2018, the castle Angelus initiates its conversion to Bio which should be completed in 2023.
The vineyard of Château Angelus is located on the foot of coast, a steep hillside facing south. The clay-limestone soil rests on a calcareous base. The grape variety is composed of about 51% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. In some years as in 2003, the share of Cabernet Franc even exceeds that of Merlot! Mature wine 18 to 22 months in new barrels.
The greatest vintages of Château Angelus are 1988, 1989, 1990, 1993, 1994
