Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 1986 is a complex and elegant wine, with plenty of smoky almonds, peaches, and honeyed apricot fruit in the nose and flavours. In the mouth, the wine has a certain elegance, and perhaps not quite the punch one normally expects from Rieussec. Nevertheless, it is a compelling Sauternes that should age magnificently.

Jean-Marc Quarin February - 1990
Jean-Marc Quarin
Golden yellow colour with sustained green highlights, very brilliant. Intense nose, quite massive, with a dominant marzipan note. A hint of chocolate and rum. Very clear on swirling. Quite intense, but impenetrable. Then evolves towards finer notes of acacia. Closed. Supple attack, quite dense and swift. Development on an oval-shaped structure, powerful and unctuous, enlivened by a more acidic note on the finish. Very good fruity persistence but lacking in finesse and harmony at this stage.

From halves and in fine fettle. Deep gold rather than the more usual tawny of Rieussec. Still tangy and lively with the freshness still masking the obvious richness.
