Drunk from magnum, the 1993 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is in its prime today, wafting from the glass with notes of sweet red berry fruit, cigar box, loamy soil and orange rind. Medium-bodied, supple and satiny, with melted tannins, lively acids and fine mid-palate amplitude, it's an immensely charming, judiciously chaptalised middleweight that has aged with grace—and better than anyone could have anticipated.

Dark red colour. Medium to good intensity. Slight evolution. Nose of medium intensity. Smoky. On swirling, meaty, fruity, ripe. Notes of cedar, wood, spices and vanilla. Soft attack, developing on a pleasant touch and medium body, juicy and flavourful. A pity that the wine drops off on the finish. But the tannins are melted and the persistence is medium. Once again this cru presents a better wine in a private cellar than at the château.

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, located in Pauillac in the heart of the Médoc, is one of the most emblematic Second Grand Cru Classé of the 1855 classification. Founded in the 17th century and permanently marked by the figure of Virginie de Pichon Longueville, Comtesse de Lalande, the estate has established itself today as an essential reference among the great wines of Bordeaux.

Located on deep gravel ridges resting on a clay-marl base, in close proximity to the Gironde estuary, the vineyard benefits from an exceptional terroir and a microclimate particularly favourable to the ripening of Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine combines power, precision and elegance, in a style renowned for its finesse and ageing potential.

Owned by the Rouzaud family since 2007, Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande continues a demanding quality policy, committed to an environmental approach certified HVE and in conversion to organic farming since 2021. Parcel vinification and the use of a gravity-fed vat room preserve the pure expression of the Pauillac terroir.
