Tom Cannavan January - 1997

Deep crimson edging towards black. Big smoky nose with a great depth of fruit and toasty, oaky, barnyard aromas. A lovely engulfing caramel richness to the nose. Round and warm on the palate with coffee bean richness and a fine, velvety texture constrained by fine tannins and a tight acid structure. This only asserts itself in the finish which is long, pure and concentrated. An iron-fist-in-a-velvet-glove sort of wine and very good indeed.

Domaine Méo Camuzet

Domaine Méo Camuzet is a family estate that produces Burgundy wines. It is located in Côte-des-Nuits and has existed since Gallo-Roman times. Since 4 centuries, the domain's know-how has been passed on from generation to generation, always with the ambition and desire to produce exceptional wines.

The estate covers 17.2 hectares of vineyard, including 13.7 hectares in red. The only grape variety harvested there is Pinot Noir. The remaining 3.6 hectares are devoted to the production of white wines, again with a single grape variety: chardonnay. The Méo Camuzet estate then produced Burgundy grands crus in the Richebourg, Echezeaux, Clos Vougeot and Corton appellations; as well as premier crus in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny and Fixin. The wines produced by the estate are known to be very good aging.
