Wine Enthusiast May - 2019
Wine Enthusiast
This wine, made from 80% Cabernet Franc, may be powerful, but it is also fragrant, with swathes of opulent black fruit. It comes from a great year for Cabernet Franc, which makes up 75% of the vineyard. Juicy acidity gives the wine an enticing velvety character. It needs time, so wait until 2026 to drink it.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 2016 Le Dome is made from 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot and aged in 80% new French oak. Medium to deep garnet-purple in colour, it slips sensuously from the glass with compelling notes of red roses, candied violets, chocolate box and Chinese five-spice, over a core of kirsch, blackberry tart, warm plums, black raspberries and cloves, plus wafts of cigar box and orange peel. Full-bodied and positively electric with energy on the palate, it offers layer upon layer of perfumed black raspberries and mineral sparks, framed by very ripe, firm, fine-grained tannins and abundant freshness. The finish is very long and fragrant.

Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
The chewy structure really does take time to get to grips with; I would thoroughly recommend either a few more years in bottle or a long spell in a carafe. Gorgeous fresh mint and eucalyptus sit at the centre, surrounded by muscular, rippling tannins. This is a forceful wine whose acidity lifts it, though it struggles to escape the heat of the vintage. Don’t expect the delicate, fragrant Cabernet Franc of the great Loire wines – think instead of luscious chocolate-coated violets, with damson, black cherry and blueberry fruit.

A flatteringly rich nose and a truly voluptuous texture, but it could do with just a little more freshness. A bit overdone. It then oxidised in the glass. Drink immediately!
