Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The de Fargues 2007 delivers 13.9% alcohol and 134 grams of residual sugar. It has a very typical de Fargues nose that has lost its tongue at first, but it opens up to reveal a slightly spirituous bouquet with clear honey, pressed flowers, almond and a distant scent of the sea. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins and outstanding delineation. It is utterly harmonious with a thrilling, edgy finish that expresses the terroir with great clarity. There is an effervescent quality that really takes the 2007 to another level, while the marmalade and white pepper finish is powerful and leaves a lasting impression. This is a fabulous 2007, one of the wines of the vintage.

Gilbert & Gaillard October - 2009

Lemon colour. Subtle nose of freshly cut flowers, sweet spices and flower honey. Beautiful structure, powerful yet fresh with persistent and well-defined aromas. A wine of great purity in the quintessential style of the house.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Rich, lively and gushing with sweet, honey coated tropical fruits, flowers, spice and vanilla custard, the wine is long, sweet, mouth filling and fresh. If the wine fills out as it matures, and it just might, it should easily upgrade another point or two. This is a really nice style of Sauternes.

Jancis Robinson October - 2009

Very complex and heady on the nose. A step up from most. Even the glass feels heavy. This is a really good Sauternes in the traditional mould. Great stuff! Mass above subtlety perhaps but tant mieux! Great energy. Lots to get your teeth into. Still a bit astringent but there is so much energy here... Pear juice.

Château de Fargues
Château de Fargues has belonged to the same family for over half a millennium! It was in 1472 that this estate entered the Lur Saluces family patrimony. Château de Fargues, like great Sauternes, has a lifespan of several decades. Enthusiasts of candied notes will need to wait a good twenty years before taking the wines out of their cellar. Raised by the Lur Saluces family, like Château d'Yquem, this Sauternes embodies the rigour, passion and talent of great winemakers. The vines extend over about fifteen hectares of gravelly hillocks on a clay-gravel subsoil. Grape varieties: 80% Sémillon, 20% Sauvignon. Best years: 1945, 1947, 1949, 1955, 1959, 1962, 1967, 1971, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1995, 1996.
