Label Condition
At SoDivin, each bottle is carefully examined, and the condition of its label is always indicated with complete transparency.
The label bears witness to the bottle's history: it may be perfectly preserved, slightly marked by time, or more damaged depending on cellar conditions.
These variations are normal and have no impact on the quality of the wine contained in the bottle.
Please note:
A more or less marked or stained label is often a sign of storage in a humid cellar, an ideal condition for preserving wine over several decades.
How do we assess the condition of labels?
At SoDivin, we take into account both the visual condition of the label and the age of the bottle. A slight mark on a recent vintage may be classified as a slightly damaged label, whereas a label on a wine from the 1960s showing more pronounced wear may be considered consistent with its age.
The different label conditions
Label in good condition
A label in good condition shows an appearance consistent with the bottle's age, without significant alteration.
In the absence of specific details on the product sheet, its condition should be considered as meeting the standards expected for its vintage.
Slightly damaged label
This level corresponds to the presence of slight marks, stains, discolorations or micro-tears. This is a completely normal condition for a wine of several decades, frequently linked to humid cellar conditions, favorable to good wine preservation.
The readability of the estate name, vintage and appellation remains perfectly intact.
Damaged label
A damaged label may show more pronounced tears, partially faded or missing areas.
This condition is common on old wines over 30 years old, stored in natural cellars.
This patina of time does not affect the wine's quality in any way and fully contributes to its authenticity.
Very damaged or missing label
The label may show very marked wear or be completely absent. This situation, like all other condition levels, is systematically explicitly mentioned on the product sheet.
In this situation, the SoDivin team carries out a thorough verification of the cork, wine level, capsule and provenance before any sale.
