Château Durfort Vivens

Château DURFORT-VIVENS owes its name to the Durfort de Duras, a powerful family from the southwest who settled in Margaux in the 14th century. In 1824, Viscount de Vivens added his name to that of Durfort. The estate's reputation was at its peak: the 1844 vintage was sold for more than all the Second Growths of the Margaux appellation. Thanks to Lucien Lurton, from 1961 onwards, the grand cru regained its noble status. His son, Gonzague Lurton, the current owner, has chosen to further enhance the qualities of the mythical Margaux terroir each year. The 1982, 1986, 1989 and 2001 vintages have particularly received very good reviews from Wine Spectator magazine.
