Château Kirwan is a small wine estate in the Bordeaux region. It is located in Margaux-Cantenac in the Gironde department, close to Château Boyd Cantenac and Château d'Issan. The estate's vineyard covers 37 hectares and the grape varieties grown there are Cabernet Sauvignon (47%), Merlot (35%), Cabernet Franc (10%) and Petit Verdot (8%). In the Margaux appellation, it is classified as a third growth in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. The estate's second wine, 'Les Charmes de Kirwan', has only been produced since 1993.

The grand vin of Château Kirwan is fine and elegant. It corresponds to the Margaux terroir, with charm and depth. This is why we recommend the Château Kirwan 1985, Kirwan 1993 as well as the Château Kirwan 1997, which is excellent.

This estate was built at the end of the 18th century in a classical style. In 1787, Thomas Jefferson classified Château Kirwan as a second growth, but the 1855 Bordeaux wine classification finally confirmed it as a third growth after two changes of ownership.

The blending is carried out at the first racking after three months in barrels. The ageing continues with manual rackings followed by egg white fining adapted to the quality and needs of the wine, 18 to 21 months later, bottling takes place.
