Château l'Arrosée is a grand cru classé from Saint-Emilion, located on the South Coast of Saint-Emilion. Situated on the southern front of the Saint-Emilion hillsides, extending from Ausone, Château l'Arrosée is distinguished by two types of soils planted in equal proportion with three grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc). Part of the vineyard planted on the sheltered south-western slope of Saint-Emilion benefits from maximum sunshine, with clay-silt-limestone soil. This exposure promotes the maturity of the harvest, especially as the soil offers good regulation of the plant's nutrition in terms of both water and mineral salts. Historically, Château l'Arrosée owes its name to the presence of an underground spring. The second part of the vineyard occupies sandy-loam terrain at the foot of the slope. This double terroir contributes to the complexity and typicity of the vineyard. 60% Merlot is blended with 20% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. The contribution of Cabernets distinguishes this wine from other vineyards in the appellation. The average age of its vines is 35 years, with the oldest being 45 years old. Its cultivation follows traditional methods, including de-budding, green harvesting, and leaf removal. The grapes are hand-harvested and very selectively sorted. After passing through temperature-controlled vats, the wine ages for 15 months in new oak barrels. The annual production of Château l'Arrosée is around 40,000 bottles.
