Our opinion on the 1917 vintage: a mixed vintage in terms of quality. In Bordeaux, the 1917 wines are of fairly good quality, with remarkable concentration from their youth and pronounced tannin presence. However, they may lack charm and sophistication, potentially being perceived as a bit harsh. The 1917 Bordeaux wines have great aging potential and can still surprise after more than a century.

The sweet white wines of Sauternes from the 1917 vintage are mellow, sappy and of high quality. However, Burgundy did not produce great wines during this year 1917.

In the Rhône Valley, 1917 is a good vintage and very good wine was produced, similar to those of 1911 and 1914.
