This wine is now on its final home straight although it will be a long home run as there is plenty structure left. Need a 3 hour decant and just enjoy it over a 3 hour period. Ruby red, it was very closed and chunky upon opening with minimal fruits. As the night progressed, it became much more integrated, developing elegance, depth and length. Certainly Merlot dominant in terms of profile but the cabernet franc did not play second fiddle. A worthy wine for those who enjoy aged Bordeaux. Drink now to 8 years.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 1996 Le Tertre-Roteboeuf is less sumptuous out of bottle than it was from cask. Nevertheless, this is an outstanding wine produced in the tell-tale style of this well-placed hillside vineyard. The colour is a deep ruby, and the nose offers up hedonistic notes of smoky, crème brûlée, roasted coffee, and chocolate-covered cherries. This medium-bodied wine is exhibiting more structure, muscle, and tannin than I remember from cask. In fact, after the sweet aromatics and initial blast of fruit on the attack, the wine seems to close down, revealing moderate tannin in the very good finish.

Château Château Tertre Roteboeuf
Château Tertre Roteboeuf
Château Tertre Roteboeuf, Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux wine. Château Tertre Roteboeuf is undoubtedly one of the greatest Bordeaux wines: it stands as one of the stars of the Bordeaux region. For American critic Robert Parker's enthusiasts, he regularly rates it between 90 and 98/100. Tertre Roteboeuf Bottle Composed of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc with 18 to 22 months aging in barrels (100% new barrels), Tertre Roteboeuf is one of the most luxuriant and sensual Bordeaux wines: Bouquet of smoked herbs, black cherry, chocolate, coffee, exceptional concentration, exquisite purity, a fabulous wine, worthy of the greatest (reminiscent of those great vintage Pétrus), sometimes surpassing them in blind tastings.
